In China, young people are always under a great deal of pressure, and the workplace is also extremely competitive. Due to this, English is one of the ways for them to improve their lives by opening new opportunities, thus giving them a chance to increase their salary. If you don't like children, but want to teach English in China, teaching adults would be a great choice for you. Adults have strong self-control, so they’ll quietly observe the class (no random noise). Especially since they pay higher tuition fees usually from their own wallet (or as a business expense), they’ll be focused on learning in class.
Adult English classes usually take place in training centers all day Saturday and Sunday, and also after 3:00 pm on weekdays. Generally, each training center has its own teaching system. The course is divided into two parts: one for beginners and the other for more advanced students. Expat English teachers also have an opportunity to set up custom courses for students. For example, if you’re into movies, you could set up a course on movies for students to discuss in class.
Class teacher to student ratios is usually one to one, one to four, and one to ten. The small class size allows the teacher to grasp the student's learning progress, and also allows the student to focus more on learning English.
